What do volunteers do?

What kinds of things do Volunteers do at the Festival?

Volunteers for the Vancouver Queer Film Festival provide remote and in-person support to our events. These include helping with check-in and ticket scanning, tech support for online streaming, event setup and takedown, photography, and food and drink service. Leading up to the Festival, we also need volunteers to help with postering and distributing Festival Guides to locations across Metro Vancouver, prepping donor packages, staffing booths at Pride and other community events, and other tasks.

We post new volunteer opportunities on a rolling basis throughout the summer, so sign up now to be notified of new opportunities!

Do you have anything for Volunteers to do outside of the Festival?

We typically begin recruiting volunteers in late spring/early summer through to the end of the Vancouver Queer Film Festival, which takes place in August. We occasionally have volunteer opportunities during the rest of the year to support additional year-round events. These include helping with check-in and ticket scanning, event setup and takedown, photography, and food and drink service. We also have some occasional in-office positions for folks to help with data entry or other administrative tasks.

We also seek volunteers for our Programming Committee, a small group of 2SLGBTQIA+ volunteers with diverse lived experiences and an interest in film. The Programming Committee watches film submissions and provides their opinions to help our Festival programmers decide which films are included in the next VQFF.

We are not seeking volunteers for the Out In Schools program at this time.
